This Ankylorhiza tooth fossil was self collected during a surface hunt from a now inactive land site in Dorchester County, South Carolina. Unfortunately a portion of the root was knocked off (presumably by heavy machinery). I managed to locate one piece, which was repaired using Paleobond (PB750 followed by aerosol activator) (in 2nd photo, bottom right root portion). Ankylorhiza, now extinct, was a giant spear toothed dolphin that lived during the Oligocene epoch (approx. 24-32 million years ago). The predatory dolphin was an apex predator that grew up to 16 feet in length according to the current fossil record.
