Classic old early Americana folk art basket made by the Woodlands Indians c.1800-1890s?? Comes from a large collection of Maine baskets we just acquired. Looks to be Passamaquady or Penobscot. It has nice old patina as expected and is made of black ash splints taken one by one from the tree and then plaited. A wonderful piece of early American history with a VERY LOW BUY IT NOW price !.
