It uses the exact same silicone umbrella valve that the spa uses, but moves it to the front of the tube for easy cleaning and service. It is not necessary to remove or replace the old umbrella valve at the back of the tube. The new one just stacks on top and provides the same function. It is compatible with both older spas (shallow tube) and newer spas (deep tube). If you have a newer spa with the umbrella valve at the back of a deep tube, it is nearly impossible to replace it without damaging the liner. That's why this kit comes with a plastic housing that allows you install it at the front of the tube in seconds. This kit is compatible with all SaluSpa/Lay-Z-Spa AirJet models, including 54112, 54124, 54129, 54131, 54145, 54155, 54176, 54185, 54186, 54190, 54295, 54297, 90443, 90437, 90363, 13804, 600xx, and many other variants. Compatible with both 2nd generation (egg shaped) and 3rd generation (square shaped) heater/pump units. Not compatible with HydroJet or HydroForce models. IMPORTANT: The umbrella valve housing MUST be secured to the air inlet tube by connecting the heater/pump unit on top of it, as shown in the photos. If the housing is not secured and left unattended, it could become dislodged by water pressure and flood the area. Note: Bestway designed the umbrella valve to reduce the flow of water to a slow drip or trickle. But even with the factory-installed valve on a brand new spa, there will be a small amount of leaking. This is normal. That is why there are additional seals between the liner and the pump and inside the pump, and a cap for when the pump is disconnected.
