This is a Civil War quarter plate tinted tintype of a Union horse artilleryman armed with an M1840 light artillery saber drawn. His shell jacket is tinted with red piping. He is wearing an M1851 belt plate, and a forage cap with crossed canons. There is a unit but too hard to see because of the gold tinting. Epaulets on his shoulders. The backdrop is a patriotic military camp scene. Housed in a full leatherette case. There is some glare off the cover glass and is not on the image.
