Check the listing for details. Early War Unmarked Union Cap Box. Good Condition and Very Amusing Initials!. Condition: Used, Made in United States. Listed at 115.00 USD. For sale is a very good example of an early war Federal cap box. It is unmarked which dates it pre-April, 1862 as all leather accoutrement had to have the maker's mark following that date. It also has the shield-shaped outer flap and the intact latch tab is sewn on; both features of early war cap boxes. It is missing the vent pick and fleece inside. Of particular note are the nicely carved initials on the outer flap..."B S"; no further comments required there. A good piece of early war Union leather at a very reasonable price.
