The iron powders commonly used in many other sintered pads were removed due to the likelihood that the pads may "weld" to the disc because of corrosion. EBC replaced those materials with a stainless powder and removed several other particles to prevent disc damage. After 5 years and millions of sets sold, EBC upgraded the formulation again due to the development of SB101C material which completely eliminates brake noise, improves the head cycling, and provides a good feel.
