We recently acquired some nice fossils from the late Joseph Butterfield Collection (NJ). We will be auctioning these fossils here over the next few weeks. This is an excellent fossil echinoderm. It is a very large Amecystis sp. cystoid from the Ordovician of Ontario, Canada. This impressive cystoid is amazingly well preserved and retains its classic sperm-like shape. One of the LONG uniserial arms is intact and beautifully displayed. The long, tapering stem is also present and very easily seen. The cream-colored fossil contrasts very well with the light grey matrix. The distinct cystoid is wonderfully showcased on the natural-edged plate of limestone.
