Name: Gogia spiralis (4), Asaphiscus wheeleri Age: Middle Cambrian Formation: Wheeler Formation Location: Millard County, Utah Size: Plate is over 10 inches across! We will be auctioning some cool fossils here over the next few weeks, so keep checking back. This is a fabulous association plate from the Middle Cambrian of Utah. There are multiple Gogia spiralis and a complete Asaphiscus trilobite preserved on the slab. These primitive, extinct Gogia echinoderms used to be known as eocrinoids, but have now been re-classified as cystoids. This large fossil has FOUR complete examples present that exhibit very fine detail. There is also a large, complete Asaphiscus trilobite preserved on the plate - this is quite unusual as trilobites are not usually found in the Gogia layers. And, for good measure, there is even a long, fossilized worm on the plate! The beautiful fossils have striking natural color and contrast and are well showcased on the giant display plate of shale. This is a very rare and collectible multiple example of this unusual association of echinoderms and trilobite from the Wheeler Shale. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this specimen. Note: International customers may have to pay a duty at Customs - every country's rules are different.
