Check the listing for details. EXTINCTIONS- LARGE RAFINESQUINA BRACHIOPOD WITH EDRIOASTEROID & BRYOZOAN - COOL!. Listed at 39.99 USD. Name: Rafinesquina (Brachiopod), Isorophus (Edrioasteroid)Age: Upper Ordovician Formation: Fairmont FormationLocation: Near Cincinnati, OhioSize: Brach is 1.45 inches across! This is a very cool fossil association. This is a fine edrioasteroid (Isorophus cincinnatiensis), and a large brachiopod (Rafinesquina) from the Ordovician of Ohio. Edrioasteroids were primitive echinoderms which consisted of a flexible theca composed of numerous polygonal plates. In this specimen, the large edrioasteroid has attached itself to a brachiopod. The brachiopod itself wasn't under attack - the aragonitic/calcitic shell of the brachiopod merely provided a hard substrate for the edrioasteroid to rest upon. The distinct edrioasteroid (left) has nice detail, color, and contrast and is well showcased on the Rafinesquina brachiopod, along with a large bryozoan colony (right). This is a very interesting grouping of fossils from the the Cincinnati area.A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this specimen. Insurance is included in the cost of shipping.Note: International customers may have to pay a duty at Customs - every country's rules are different.
