Handmade in Kenya. Looks like it is carved and painted but not 100% sure. This came from one of the coolest estate sales I've ever been to. The estate belonged to a retired doctor, musician and artist. He had so many interesting things. The house was basically a storage unit filled to the brim with art, musical instruments and beautiful collectibles from all of his travels around the world.
