This New Knife Maker's Center Line Scribe Kit is 100% complete. All the major work is done for you. You only need to assemble the parts. This scribe uses 2 high quality, abec 3, deep groove radial ball bearings. The body is made of 1/2" X 1/2" square 1018 steel stock and is approximately 2-1/2" long. The kit includes everything in the plastic bags. Which is the steel body, 2 bearings, 2 washers, 1 brass thumb screw, 1 nicely ground sharpened carbide rod. The spacing between the bearings when assembled is approximately .282 (9/32") so this will easily scribe 1/4" stock. The steel body is completely finished. No drilling or threading is needed.This unit will scribe any thickness stock from zero up to and including 1/4" thick. You rotate the scribe on the work until the bearings touch on each side. This is a self centering design. The tungsten carbide rod is approximately 1-1/2" long X approximately 1/8" diameter. One end has a slight chamfer and the other end has been professionally ground to a sharp 60 degree point. Please Note: Assembly is required. It only takes a minute and is done as shown in the photos.
