Very soft, naturally vegetable tanned leather (no harsh chemicals), and leather will accept oiling as leather is porous. There are 12 Bells, approximately 1.5" in diameter per bell. These are done old school and attached via split bell pins - there are no rivets or screws used for this. They measure end to end 53", adjust from 40"-50", and there is about 10 inches of space to add holes and make smaller. All hardware is solid brass including the bells, buckles feature a steel pin. Originally these were designed to attach on the driving bridle (the smaller strap is designed to go into the crown of the driving bridle) or in place of the throat lash, but there are many ways you can attach these. I have several customers that have put two together to make a girth, used an old belt to make it longer, some even hang them from the neck or even from the hames. These are very well made and versatile from how you can use them.
