Here is a pair of WWI era brass or bronze Mark IV "friction tube igniters", (aka fuses or primers) for heavy artillery pieces. They are marked "Mk IV", along with "WJM & Co", and each is stamped with an F3. The manufacturer was W J Myatt, of Birmingham. They were high end silversmiths and jewelers, who switched to the production of military products to support the war effort. These igniters were used to set off the explosive charge within the breech loading artillery. These are in good condition, so I don't know if they have been used or not.
