Nice rarely found 18th century Square Poll Belt hatchet / axe. This was recently found in a Bucks County PA farmhouse and has the original hardwood handle.Weighs 1 pound 12 ounces. The blade edge is 2 5/8”. 5 3/4” wide. The eye measures 1 1/4” by 3/8”. The poll end is 1 1/4” from the eye. I am unable to determine any markings. This style axe was manufactured between 1740 and 1800. Very solid tool, no wobble, with a nice old patina. This would make a great addition to your collection.
