Need help choosing a unit? Generally speaking, the longer the heat exchanger is, the more efficient it will be. Adding more plates reduces pressure loss and adds some extra heat transfer. More width on a unit also reduces pressure loss and adds some heat transfer. Since plate heat exchanger utilize convection, it is better to add length than plates or width for heat transfer when the flow rates are low.
