The TCE Oil Pump Safety Nut is protection against one of the most common failure modes of stock M5X and S5X series engines. Stock oil pump nuts can become loose over time due to vibration in the engine. We designed this product after having poor experiences with other oil pump safety nuts. After several installs, we began noticing issues with the wire snapping during installation and sometimes even fracturing into small pieces due to the twisting of the wire during installation. If this happened while in your oil pan, you are putting metal bits into your sump! Which certainly defeats the purpose of doing this upgrade. The TCE Oil Pump Safety Nut uses a OEM pump nut that we have drilled through using a 1/16" Cobalt drill bit, and tougher steel wire. This means that this wire can be bent in a tighter radius without risk of breaking as you are twisting it around the oil pump gear. We make and inspect every nut by hand.
