Cannon Company 311th Infantry Regiment 78th Infantry Division. MOS 675 (Messenger) Robert was a failed aviation cadet who was transferred to the 78th Infantry Division in early September of 1944. He fought through all of the 78th's campaigns. Including the Hurtgen Forrest, Siegfried Line, and the crossing of the Roer River. Robert returned home to Califon New Jersey where he became the mayor in the late 1950s, just like his late father. This uniform is laundry marked with his ASN and name, a perfect match. I've included several pages of research which contain morning reports, general orders, and newspaper clippings. The uniform is missing its patches. but the old impression of the 78th patch is still visible.
