The "1" in the date shows having been re-punched, most visible at the serif at the top left. There may be some faint indication of re-punching on the "8" and the "4", but not like on the "1". The surfaces are mostly medium to dark brown on both sides. The piece at the usual high points on Liberty's face, shows no wear or contact. The other surfaces are likewise free of signs of circulation. I think the most accurate overall description of the piece would be brown, uncirculated. There is one mark on the reverse just to the left of the "O" in "ONE".
