The roving is professionally washed and carded by Alford Family Farms and Spinnery, with great care taken to ensure a wonderful end product. The fiber is pre-washed followed by hand picking of vegetable matter, opening, two washes and two rinses. The washing process allows for a gentle moving of water through the fiber to avoid agitation. Temperature controls prevent shock to the fiber as it soaks. No harsh chemicals are used in the cleaning of the fiber. A Stonehedge picker and carder processed the washed fiber.
