Check valves are non-return valves used to allow flow in one direction and prevent flow in the opposite direction. Check valves provide pressure relief and backflow prevention which protects equipment from contamination and damage. This check valve is spring-loaded which has many benefits and lends to its different names. Known as a vertical check valve the internal spring allows this check valve to work in any direction including vertically. This valve is also referred to as a Silent Check Valve, this is due to the spring creating a pressure differential required to keep the valve open, called cracking pressure, this differential is higher than 0 PSI and causes the valve to close quickly and smoothly as the forward velocity slows rather than when the upstream velocity increases. Cracking pressure is the differential required to push media past the internal spring. This valve has a cracking pressure of 14.36PSI, so the pressure upstream needs to be at least that much higher than the pressure downstream for the check valve to open and allow flow downstream. This check valve is made from lead-free Stainless Steel and has a PTFE Seal at the end cap. The ports are both Female NPT threaded for easy installation.
