They won't leak everywhere and have been used for years by poultry farmers. Horizontal water nipple are a great solution for birds of all ages, including baby chicks. The nipples are made of stainless steel to keep the water clean and fresh. Manufacturer recommends 3 birds per nipple and does not require a drip cup. They are easy clean and install. To install, just drill a hole using 11/32" drill bit at the side of PVC pipe, bucket or other containers you find available. If using a thin plastic like reused water bottle, 5/16" drill bit might be more appropriate. Wind some Teflon tape (not included) on the 11/32" threads and then screw the nipple into the hole with the washer. You can drill a hole using 11/32" and screwed them directly into PVC water pipe as long as they are on the sides, or use 1/8" NPT reducing tees (not included) with Teflon tape for round PVC pipe. Water nipples only work under low-pressure water source. If connecting to household water lines, a pressure regulator under 5 PSI (not included) must be used.
