Check the listing for details. 3" Magnesium Block Fire Starter W/ Hand Stitched Leather Holster. Condition: New. Listed at 12.00 USD. 6-14-24 Shipping update: I am currently out of leather and waiting on the next quantity to arrive in my shop early next week. In the mean time, should you purchase any leather items there will be an additional 2-3 day wait in shipping times. Leather should be back in house on Tuesday so any leather goods purchased between now and then will be competed and shipped by this time next week. Thanks and have a great weekend. Here is a magnesium fire starting device with a built in ferro rod. These are neat little tools that will help get your fire going fast. To use just scrape some of the magnesium from one side into your tinder bundle, then strike the ferro rod on the other side into the pile, and your fire will be warming you in minutes. The magnesium shavings burn at around 5,400 degrees. So don't drop your magnesium block into the fire... While I do prefer a huge ferro rod, these are fun to use and another great tool in your fire kit, and with the added bonus of the magnesium to super charge your tinder, fire making in wet conditions isn't quite as challenging. These are the same tools that sell in your local outdoor store for five or six bucks and this is what I added: I ditched that little piece of dog tag chain and replaced it with a leather lanyard. Let's face it, that little chain isn't all that durable as they break easily if put under pressure. That is what dog tag chain was designed to do. And it isn't very "bushcrafty". The leather lanyard holds the block and little piece of saw blade securely together and is more durable. I do include that little piece of saw blade that comes with them but, personally, I always ditch them too (for my own use) and use the back of my knife. But some folks like it so it will be provided with the kit.I also hand cut and stitch a little leather holster for it. That keeps the two pieces together and keeps the edges of the block from damaging other items in your kit. And it also keeps the saw blade from cutting your hand when reaching into your fire kit or pocket. It is double hand stitched with high strength artificial sinew and is very sturdy. Tinder pouch in pictures is not included. Shipping Information: My Products are designed and hand crafted in my little workshop in Pulaski, TN.
