I designed these journals to serve as a personal grimoire or book-of-shadows. They are bound in water-buffalo hide and contain pages of unlined 150gsm cartridge (drawing) paper. The cover is embossed with a design that some people interpret as a Celtic Knot and which others see as a Mandala. The listing is for one book, though several are shown in the attached photos. Size: 8 inches x 6 inches (20x15cm) - approx A5 Contains 100 leaves/200pages (in 5 individually sewn folios of 20 sheets) Weight: 450 grams (approximately 1lb) Quality: - Paper is genuine unlined cartridge paper produced from cloth rags (NOT recycled print!). It is suitable for drawing and sketching, and for writing with pencil, Biro, gel and fountain pens, and with water-based inks or water colour. Binding: is 100% genuine water-buffalo hide, coloured with a natural mahogany brown dye that is derived from tree bark. The leather is of a heavy quality, and is thick but supple.The binding will NOT crack, tear, or disintegrate (as glued bindings do!). The book will lie flat and remain open at any page you select. There is an inner flap to protect the edges of pages, and the front cover. Fastening: is a durable leather tie-strap. I love working with leather, but for ethical reasons I only use vintage leather for my books - leather from working animals that have come to the end of their lives.
