In 1953 Air Trails magazine published this beautiful K & B Glo Torp .29 powered scale u-control stunt TAPER WING WACO. Most old timers know that any good .15 or .19 will produce the same power today as the old K & B .29 did back then. The wing ribs are a symmetrical stunt airfoil. The wing span is 37". All parts patterns are on the PLANS & it contains construction details in two columns on the right hand side. The included construction article has a very nice cutaway drawing. Since this model PLAN shows a ring cowling, you don't have to build a radial engine for your model to look scale. The plan has instructions on how to make a dummy radial engine. This is one of my vintage PLANS that brings back fond memories every time I see it. When Pop was a boy of about 17, he saw this model fly in a contest in Durham, NC, in 1953. It may have been the prototype for this article and plan. “What a beauty it was to see this scale model do stunts---the airfoil is fully symmetrical & reasonably thick like good stunt model airfoils are.” I have a very large packet of original documents for the TAPER WING WACO model and actual airplane.
