Probably Persian, patina suggests early 1900's, medallion contains togra and the frame is in Arabic: verse from the Koraan known as "Samadia" believed to protect from envy and other evils. Togras and decoration on all sides . Note superb craft in calligraphy. 4.5 cm. across depth inside 8mm. 30 grams, silver content unknown. Clasp to open and close to place item inside. Two rings on sides for balanced hanging. Important Islamic antique for curators and collectors.
