Beautiful very old wooden dome lidded trunk. Not sure when it was built but because of the newspaper interior where the date of the newspaper is from Middletown CT on December 14, 1831 you have a good idea it was around that date. There is a crack in the top but not all the way from edge to edge. The truck was nailed together as you can see from the photo's. My guess that it was made from old wood taken from another piece, my great grandfather used to do that when he was making something. It is very sturdy and the hinges are in tack and work well. They have a tight fit on the trunk. Dim: 20.5" L x 12" D x 10.75" H base to top of dome.
