Description This small old English Pewter Match/Snuff box is inscribed with the phrase "Take Your Tythe" meaning take your tax which is the obsolete spelling for the word tithe and features a farm scene of the tax collector taking away a piglet. The box lid is done in repousse' design and has a tiny grooved flat area which would've served as striker. No stamp/hallmarks but box is attributable to J Hynam Co. - London Circa 1840 - 1899 More Info Condition: Good - hinge/lid are in perfect working condition and the lid closes tight and flush. The box does have some some tiny dings on the bottom and has a small scratch on the striker area but is in wonderful shape for its age and still displays very nicely. Size: 2 3/4 x 1 3/4 " Weight: 1.9 oz.
