This remarkable tray in stunning repousse work depicts the inaugural front cover of the PUNCH magazine founded in 1841 and is in the best original condition I have seen. The artist for the cover was the Victorian painter Richard Doyle with mr Punch making his dog Toby pose for a portrait. This offer includes a later copy of Punch dated 18th December 1901. The tray measures 102 mm x 72 mm weighing 32 grams.
