The cylindrical capital is encircled with bands of applied decoration in addition to a central applied girdle. The waisted panelled section of the column features rounded square knop with incurved corners to the upper portion and a circular knop to the lower portion. The circular sunken well is ornamented with a contemporary engraved crest depicting an animal erased and pierced through the neck with an arrow. This Georgian taper candlestick is supported by a square stepped base with incurved corners. This taperstick does not have a weighted base. The lion passant, assay mark and date letter of the full hallmarks struck to the underside of the candlestick are all legible; the maker"s mark however has been lost in the casting, which is not uncommon.
