A helpful member of the Ebay audience helped me to identify this as a North African Tuareg Knife or dagger. It is just over 15 inches long, with the sheath making the 15.75 inches long. is a very early piece with some very early engraved inserts in its leather scabbard. Some of these are missing. There are numerous interesting features and details, like the carnelian stone top and tip. The bottom insert (one is missing) is tooled and dyed leather. This is a quite an interesting piece, and I am sure, full of historical background.
