The plain cylindrical capital of each silver candlestick is plain and encircled with an applied moulded border to the rim. The capitals retain the original hallmarked push fit sconces, ornamented to the rim with chased leaf decoration. The waisted column of each candlestick is embellished with chased leaf decoration to a large compressed circular knop, in addition to leaf motifs enveloping the lower portion. These impressive columns surmountcircular spreading bases, each ornamented with four large palmette style leaf designs, with further applied foliate decoration to the rim. These piano candle holders do not have weighted bases. These silver candlesticks were crafted by the important and renowned London silversmith Robert Garrard II, subsequently R & S Garrard & Co. Condition These antique piano candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and sleeve of each sconce are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these piano candle holders in antique silver.
