This means that the notes are no longer backed by U.S. dollars like notes from previous issues. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition. Its obverse side features a painting by Pedro Subercaseaux Abrazo de Maipu which depicts El Libertador Jose de San Martin hugging the Military Commander Bernardo OHiggins on a horseback. A portrait of Jose de San Martin wearing a military uniform and San Martins will are also shown. On the banknotes reverse is the memorial monument to the Army of the Andes on Cerro de la Gloria which is located in Mendoza. The Coat of Arms of Argentina and the Order of the Liberator General Jose de San Martin medal are also visible. This 155 x 66 mm paper bill has a watermark that consists of Jose de San Martin and an electrotype JSM.
