The beautifully unique stone in this pendant is made from authentic real fossil dinosaur poop. The formal name of fossil poop, dung or scat is Coprolite. It was fossilized much like any other bone, shell or plant. The original material has been replaced during fossilization by the mineral Agate. Agate is a cryptocrystalline variety of the mineral Quartz (SiO ). In polished cross sections paleontologists, such as Dr. Karen Chin (see National Geographic Magazine January 1993) can see undigested bits of bone and plants that were part of the dinosaur's diet. The dinosaur was probably a herbivore, perhaps a long neck Sauropod, based on the undigested plant content found in other coprolites in this region. This fossil Coprolite has been tumble-polished to bring out the form and beauty. It was found in Jurassic Age rocks of Utah which are 140-200 million years old.
