One of the nicest parts about these spectrometers is that there are multiple websites that cover these model spectrometers all the way down to the most intricate details. My favorite website that is completely dedicated to this model spectrometer with detailed instructions on how to modify them (if you choose to do so) can be located by Googling "Spectrometers - Science-Surplus". When you get there, please don't forget to click on "spectrometer resources" which has the most useful information and also where you can download the free software to run these spectrometers. Although these spectrometers are not wavelength calibrated, after you download the software please follow my instructions in photo #5 and photo #6 to get the spectrometer to start detecting light.
