During the winter when the water is too cold to produce chlorine, I take my SWG cell out and store it in the garage while the blank pipe allows to switch back to a chlorine pool and serves to keep circulation going. It also served when my cell needed maintenance and again the "blank pipe" allowed me to switch back to a "chlorine" pool until the cell was repaired. Reviewed by: Charles Olson from N. A common use would be when a pool has a cover put on it during times it is not in use. With a cover and/or cold season weather a pool needs much less chlorination.
