Centralia is a boro and near ghost town, located in Columbia County, PA. It's population has dwindled from over 1,000 residents in 1981 to approximately 5 in 2025, as the result of a coal mine fire burning beneath the boro since 1962. Centralia is the least-populated municipality in PA. All properties in the boro were claimed under eminent domain by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1992 and all buildings therein were condemned. Centralia's zip code was revoked by the postal service in 2002.
