The outside dimension of the matting will vary based on the mat opening size, and is listed in parenthesis in the size menu. Matting will fit a frame of this size. Matting will overlap image by 0.25" on each side. The reason for the smaller "actual" opening size is to create a .25 inch overlap on all sides so that the matting sufficiently covers and correctly adheres to the photo or print for proper display. The custom opening is bevel-cut to showcase the core of the mat while the outside edges of the mat are straight-cut.
