Hutchinson (sold by) Ritchie & Sons still in business today the serial number dates to 6/26/1925 Ritchie patented the first liquid filled compass in 1861. 5 3/16” Outside Dimension (brass edge to edge) 3 13/16” Diameter Floating Dial Fluid has been drained and is now “Dry” but fluid can be added solution for this time period is 45% grain alcohol and 55% distilled water. Fluid was added to reduce vibration at sea if used as a display piece unnecessary. Professionally restored with new seal. 😎
