Benefits of Eagle-i Golf Trainers: • Builds Fundamental Swing Habit • Minimizes Head Movement • Improves Swing Skills • Reinforces Swing Fundamentals • Corrects Any Swing Problem • Utilizes Golfer’s Dominant Eye About Eagle-i Golf professionals, teaching pros and PGA experts all agree that one’s ability to keep one’s head steady during the golf swing improves accuracy, contact, consistency and distance. Theoretically the golf swing requires one to rotate around an axis between the neck and waist. The speed at which one is able to coil and then uncoil generates the power that can be imparted to the golf ball. The ability to remain on the plain determines the direction and control one has and the contact determines the consistency. Many golf professionals, private trainers and PGA experts agree that one’s ability to keep his or her head steady during a golf swing is crucial in the development a solid player and a solid game. This discipline, if maintained, improves the quality and consistency of each swing and; therefore, increases the accuracy of the player. Theoretically, a proper golf swing requires one to rotate around an axis between the neck and waist. While the speed at which a player is able to coil and uncoil generates the power imparted to the golf ball, the ability to remain on the original plane determines the direction and control of the object. Appropriate contact determines consistency. This concept of stabilizing your head seems simple, but in reality can be a considerable task while maintaining other fundamentals of a swing. It is the natural tendency of players to prematurely jerk the head in anticipation of the ball’s flight. As such, we often do not realize our deviation from proper alignment unless we either record ourselves head-on, or are informed by an observer. Since neither option is optimal or, perhaps, even available during practice, bad habits and misalignments are allowed to be repeated until they become normal to a player and may even feel “comfortable”. If your head is not still, can you still make contact with the ball? Typically, yes. However, your timing must be perfect. Will that contact provide the control, distance, and consistency you desire in your game? Probably not. Eagle-i trainers were created to combat this problem by capitalizing on the eye’s powerful ability to provide immediate feedback to the brain. By restricting the field of vision, the head is directed to compensate for the narrow range that the ball remains in view. If the head is pivoted to the right or left (ultimately altering the arc of the swing), the ball is lost to the player and he must readjust to the correct position to regain focus. You will notice that your trainers only allow vision from one lens. The open lens is to be placed over your dominant eye ensuring that all peripheral and non-dominant visual feedback is blocked. This allows your dominant eye (responsible for focus) to monopolize the visual input to the brain and reduce alternate distractions that could negatively impact a swing. Though it may seem initially unnatural to restrict vision in your non-dominant eye, training your dominant eye to not only square up with the ball but to keep it in focus up to the point of contact is essential in creating proper muscle memory. The non-dominant eye is responsible for depth perception and skews gross vision angularly to allow for perception of dimension. However, the golf ball is not moving prior to contact making depth an irrelevant factor. Consider the body as a machine. If the fulcrum (the head) is fixed, the pendulum (club) has a pre-determined arc while in motion. Therefore, if the ball is already fixed at point on the arc of the swing, a steady head will inevitably allow contact and transfer of the energy from the club to the ball. To understand this, also consider a drawing compass. If the metal tip is moved from its point of origin while turning the compass, the arc (and resulting line) has been changed. The same applies to the golf swing. The dominant eye, used efficiently, has the ability to stabilize the head and allow the motion of the body to follow through as anticipated in set-up. Once the motion is repeated several times with the trainers, the body begins to build muscle memory for correct alignment. Therefore, once the trainers are removed, muscle memory will guide an individual to line up correctly with the ball, maintain appropriate eye contact, and keep the head. FAQs: Why the Eagle-i works? - No matter how much you concentrate on keeping your head still, it may still move. As a matter of fact, the more you try to hold your head still, the more it will want to move. This is not your fault, it is human nature. This is try for all of the golf swing improvement techniques. Remember all of the tips to keep your head down, bend your knees or not break your wrist that you have been told to execute over the years. Well none of them helped until you repeated the actions often enough for your muscle to remember the feel and automatically perform the actions. Only then could you incorporate these steps into your fluid swing. This is also true when you want to keep your head steady. The best way for us to keep our head still is for us to incorporate muscle memory. The Eagle-I creates muscle memory thru your eyes! You see, if you move your head, then you lose sight of the ball. You already know how to keep your eyes focused on the ball but now the Eagle-I trainer uses this natural muscle memory to keep your head still! Why do I need to know which eye is my dominant eye? - For Accuracy, the other eye only provides depth perception Why are my Eagle-i trainers so tight? - The Eagle-i trainers are meant to place pressure on your temples which causes you to focus and concentrate more deeply. This pressure on your temples only exists during the training period and therefore is subliminally part of building your muscle memory. When you remove the Eagle-i, the pressure goes away but the memory remains. When you stand over the ball and begin your swing, your mind will remember the pressure and help you to focus your eyes to stay on the ball even though you have removed the Eagle-i training aid. If you move your head, then the ball will disappear so, you do not move your head. And you hit the ball straighter, longer, and more consistently.
