Check the listing for details. Early Single Gong Telephone Ringer. Condition: Used. Listed at 29.00 USD. Early Single Gong Telephone Ringer - The bell is probably brass, but could possibly be with copper or bronze. I get the feeling that this is Belgium because the “paint” or “bluing” (like gun blue) is like that which I've seen there; but also could be any one of B.I., Scandinavia or Germany. The base is 4” diameter, 5/8” thick wood. The bell is heavy – copper like but could be brass. The ringer mechanism is intricate and can be adjusted for loudness and of great 1910 – 1918 craftsmanship. This like of the Eiffel Tower phone (1892 – 1932) era. The bell is mounted onto 3 pegs which must line up carefully with the holes that they penetrate. It's as if it is a clever way to arrange the bell to be hit correctly by the clapper hammers. This may have been one of the first electric telephone ringers. It was made to be either on desk or wall. A 1 1/4” x 3/8” chip is broke out of the rim of the base.
