It is a dark brown, black, and green note that is dated 1997, bear the signatures of Isaias Afewerki and Tekie Beyene, and measures 140 x 70 mm. Its obverse side features Eritrean fighters raising the EPLF flag, a triptych portrait of three young women, and a camel as a registration device. Its reverse side shows a camel, a train on the Obel River bridge near Massawa, a bank logo, and a holographic stripe. Security features include a solid security thread printed BANK OF ERITREA and a watermark of a camel head. This note was demonetized in 2016.
