The circuit consists of all the LEDs as shown wired in series on a printed circuit board. What usually happens is an LED breaks out of the PCB and opens the circuit, like a Christmas tree wiring harness, and the entire unit goes dark. So I replace the LED. They must be screwed in carefully by holding the collar near the socket. It is tempting to use the two LEDs near the socket to gain leverage when screwing them in. Don't do it! They will break. About 20 years old but probably sat on a "Repair" pile where they were finally pitched. I have had a repaired one lighting my garage, as a night light, for about 10 years. These will fit into an old fashioned night light fixture.
