Listed at 350.00 USD. * * * * EARLY STERLING CUP - PLEASE READ ON * * * * For sale is an antique solid sterling silver with repousse decoration and a handle made by Gale & Willis of New York dated 1859. This early sterling silver cup is 3 1/4" tall by 2 7/8" in diameter; weighs 134 grams. There is a matching embossed egg & dart band across the top and bottom of the cup. The bottom is stamped GALE & WILLIS, NEW YORK, .925 STERLING and a date lozenge with the date of 1859. Cup is in remarkable good used condition: beside some expected dings and dents it remains a nice cup ready to be used again. Handle has not been repaired or re-attached as some are. There is a monogram (APY) which is typical for a cup of this period.
