The GPSMAP 296, 396, 495 & 496 can still be updated by the end user (the 96, 96C & 196 cannot), however some people do not have the time or patience to do it and would prefer to have it done by a professional. The aviation database will be updated to the most current cycle (2313)Effective dates: December 28, 2023 to January 25, 2024. Please let me know if you live in Alaska as it is now a different database than the previous U.S. database. Once you make the "purchase," we will contact you within 12 hours through the eBay message system to ascertain exactly what your GPS needs, give you instructions on how to send us your GPS and the exact cost. You simply mail us the GPS receiver, minus any and all accessories. (Please do not send any cables, batteries or antennas) Once We receive it, there is a 24 hour turnaround time. We will then send the unit back to you via First Class bubble mailer or Priority Mail with tracking information.
