A fine German copy of a Giovan Paolo Maggini Violin from 1671.This hand made violin dates from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Made with finely tiger striped maple for the back and sides and has double purfling on both front and back. Of note is the extra turn of the volute, a feature often not seen in many of the later Maggini violins.This violin is set up with Dominant strings and has a rich, powerful and sonorous tone which projects strongly with excellent overtones reminiscent of the great Italian violins of another era.$ 3,800.
