From the collection of well known philatelist Lee Hefner Combs, an unusual and rare manuscript documenting tobacco, cigar, and snuff reference from the tax inception by Congress in 1862 through 1879. It is written in a very legible cursive style with several colors of ink over a long period of time. The age of the manuscript is unknown but the condition and toning and cursive writing style would indicate it is at least 75 years old but I would guess even older. See photos. Appears to be an exhaustive amount of research and reference with over 200 pgs of information. The manuscript has been bound in a burgundy cloth book form. The book is approximately 11" x 8".
