Check the listing for details. Interesting 1753 Spanish Colonial Silver Clipped 8 real Hammered Treasure Cob. Listed at 349.99 USD. This offer is for one Interesting 1753 Spanish Colonial Silver Clipped 8 real Hammered Treasure Cob coin. This Chunky Ferdinand VI silver coin is Tripple struck which can clearly be seen on the cross. It also has a Full three-digit date. Minted in Potosi, Bolivia, this Cob directly shows the method of making change or theft by clipping. This chunky silver treasure cob shows only the base of an 8 for its denomination but weighs 15.80 grams. That is heavier than a 4 Reales which would be 13.5 grams but lighter than an 8 Reales which would be 27 grams. The thick edges of this cob are smooth and straight also adding evidence of clipping during colonial times. Interesting to note that their cob coinage was discontinued and changed to round milled coinage with reeded or decorated edges in the late 1760's - 70's to try and eliminate the clipping of their coins. This Attractive and very interesting Treasure cob is Guaranteed to be 100% Authentic. Some pictures may appear darker than actual coin due to lighting. The picture showing the measurement with ruler shows numbers in MM / CM. Weight is in Grams. If purchasing multiple items, please reach out to us prior to payment so we can insure combined shipping.
