Mandoble Carlos V CAROLUS Mandoble Carlos V CAROLUS Charles I of Spain and V of the Holy Roman Empire, called «the Caesar», son of Joan I of Castile and Philip I the Beautiful, is elected emperor of the Holy Roman Empire on the death of his grandfather Maximilian, in 1519. He reigned together with his mother—the latter only nominally—in all the kingdoms and territories of Spain with the name of Charles I from 1516 to 1556 thus uniting for the first time in the same person the Crowns of Castile —the Kingdom of Navarre and Aragon Charles I of Spain and V of Germany was known in his day as «The Emperor» as no king ever managed to gather under his command such an immense empire. He gathers in his person the territories from the quadruple inheritance of his grandparents: habsburguesa (Maximilian I), Burgundy (Mary of Burgundy), Aragonese (Fernando the Catholic) and Castilian (Isabel la Católica). After so many wars and conflicts, Charles V entered a phase of reflection: on himself, on life and his experiences and, moreover, on the state of Europe. He retired to the Monastery of Yuste where he remained for a year and a half in retreat, away from the cities and political life, and accompanied by the order of the Jeronimos who spiritually guided the monarch to his last days. On 21 September 1558 he died of malaria. The coffin of Charles I is located in the Royal Crypt of the Monastery of El Escorial known as the Pantheon of the Kings. It is one of the most spectacular swords in the history of Spain. Exceptional replica, deluxe edition of the Mandoble of Charles I of Spain and V of Germany, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.
