An important figure in the early civil rights movement when in 1939 during racial segregation, the Daughters of the American Revolution refused to allow her performance before an integrated audience in Constitution Hall in Washington DC, but with the aid of First lady Eleanor Roosevelt and President Franklin D. Roosevelt, she was able to perform in a critically acclaimed performance in an open air concert on Easter Sunday, 1939 on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Very good condition.
