During WWII the Navy's District Rail Transportation Coordinator received several new 36-inch gauge diesel-electric locomotives to speed the flow of military cargo on Oahu. Pictured here in 1945 in Honolulu's Iwilei Yard is D.R.T.C. #8, a brand-new 300-horsepower, 45-ton locomotive built by the Whitcomb Locomotive Works of Rochelle, Illinois, in December of 1944. The word "copyright" does not appear on the card itself. Printed in 2004 from an actual photo taken in 1945 by Victor Norton, Jr. Beautiful black and white photo on front, black and white screened photo on back. MINT CONDITION, postally unused.
